Evil Eddie

Butterfingers chief songwriter & front man Evil Eddie (Bris) returns with his unique mix of distorted guitars, monster truck beats & sharp lyrical humour. After playing sold out shows up & down the coast of his home state of Queensland on the strength of only 2 singles, this act is not to be missed. - EVIL EDDIE PLAYS WEDS 7TH SEP @ THE TEMPO HOTEL - BIO... Hailing from what rural Queenslanders commonly refer to as ‘The Big Smoke’, Brisbane born Evil Eddie, along with the help of a vocal and dedicated fan base, looks set to become the next big winner on the cult variety show “Bundamba’s Got Talent”. Having served as front man for the three time ARIA award nominated Hip Hop/Punk outfit Butterfingers for the last nine years, Evil Eddie is now flying under the solo moniker which has given him the opportunity to expand his musical diversity, and the freedom to test his ‘brown note’ theory on animals for the first time. With an APRA award for Most Performed Urban Work already to his credit, “Evil” (as he is affectionately known by his ex-girlfriends) shows no signs of straying from his roots (figuratively speaking) and further hones the Hip Hop/Punk blend that riff raff around the world have come to know and force upon their friends. Now, after lying to his own friends, colleagues and family about overcoming his long spell of writers’ block, Evil Eddie must produce something that in some way resembles music before his life becomes a large pit of despair from which there is no return. On his highly anticipated debut album tentatively titled “Welcome To Flavour Country”, Eddie will follow in the footsteps of artists such as Prince, Dave Grohl and that homeless guy in the Valley Mall, by recording all of the instrumentation entirely by himself. This is, of course, with the exception of drums because to quote Eddie himself, ‘drums are gammin eh’. The first single off the album, a little diddy about his home-state aptly titled “Queensland”, has already seen politicians, critics and friends alike shocked and appalled at the lyrical content and generally brazen attitude that comes with Evil’s rock star-style delusions of grandeur, yet the song still managed to secure number 86 in the Triple J’s esteemed ‘Hottest 100’ competition for 2010, while the video for “Queensland” has received over 118,000 views on YouTube and shows no signs of slowing. A more recent single titled “(Somebody Say) Evil”, which is also doused in Eddie’s trademark impious lyrical style, serves as an introduction for newcomers to Eddie’s music and seems to be following a similar arc as “Queensland” having already been voted most requested on Triple J’s Super Request program while inspiring hate mail from all corners of the globe. The Evil Eddie live show has also gone from strength to strength, after first performing (and receiving overwhelming responses) at the “Peats Ridge” and “Woodford” Festivals (NYE 2010-11), to headlining east coast Australian tours of his own (selling out venues on more than one occasion) in just a few short months. While taking the credit mostly himself this could also be attributed to performing with an all star, Brisbane based, backing band boasting backbone members of “Butterfingers”, “Bang Bang Boss Kelly”, “SpitFireLiar”, “Kingfisher” and “Laneous & The Family Yah”. (Please note: Band members are subject to availability. No liability will be held by Evil Eddie or Evil Eddie’s associated representatives upon failure to produce said ‘all star’ members on any given contracted performance from this moment henceforth and reserves the right to replace any said ‘all star’ members with any ‘regular/sub par’ members of Evil Eddie’s or Evil Eddie’s associated representatives choosing).
